Review: Love Chemistry by Shubham Arora

Love stories during school times is one thing which happens on impulse and then it either carries on for a long time or fizzles out quickly. Author Shubham Arora in his book "Love Chemistry" has tried his hand on showcasing some school romance but with spicy flavors to it. So is it spicy enough and is there any chemistry? Let's find out.

Hi! I am Aadvitya, seventeen year-old and into studies. Correction: almost into studies! And yes, I have an average adolescent mind that has a world around to lure me into every other thing. Confused? No! Diverted? Yes! Interesting? Right.
Do you know how my randomly oscillating mind reacts to different resonantic states it acquires time and again? Friends, love, sex, homosexuality, education, opportunities, aspirations and expectations in a different manner!
And Noopur? That window-side girl! And chemistry? The second love of my life! The love to hate thing! To put a cherry on the top, a traitor and some darkness to ruin it all!
Being an adult is cool. Is being seventeen the same?

First look at the cover image and as a reader you'll be impressed. The title is a good one too. A catchy title needed to attract the attention of the readers. The blurb talks about teen age love and it's implications. The blurb is good too in terms of the story lined up for the readers.

The story revolves around Aadvitya and his gang of friends namely Rahul, Aniket & Parva. Their school exploits, fun times, bad times, fears, happiness and everything from girl friends to crushes is shared between them. Aadvitya falls in love with Noopur her classmate and tried to woo her and undergoes a series of maniac things in order to bowl her over completely. The mystery surrounding a "SMS Prank" played on Aniket becomes talk of the story and how then unravel it in the end. Will their friendship hold the test of times and will they all be able to win their love? That's the story is all about.

Teenage romance is always center of attraction in a lot of books and in this book too it takes center stage. The friendship, the bond between friends and the things you try out for the first time in you life from watching adult films to booze to late night hangouts and to pull each other's legs is all there in the story with a lot of fun and flair. The book has a plain and simple narration. It's humorous in parts.

The downside is the love chemistry in case of the lead protagonist which comes into effect very late in the story. A lot of focus is there on friendship in the book rather than love which happens to be the title of the book. There's no extraordinary love story too in the story. It's simple and old tell tale. The SMS prank suspense eats up a lot of part in the book. Noopur has been given less weight age in the story.

The book will entertain the readers in parts but overall it won't be able to produce a X-factor in order to term it as an extraordinary attempt. It's a teen age love story and friendship story which will take you back to your olden and golden times or if you are a teenage will make you enjoy your present scenario. It falls short on love but it scores heavily on friendship chemistry.

RATINGS:

2 OUT OF 5.
