Review: Millionaire by Dayal Madan

Many a times a person waits for a miracle to happen in their life. Be it love, career, family etc. everybody wish and dream big. Some aspirations and some dreams do get fulfilled but some don't. It's about destiny too. Author Dayal Madan in his debut book "Millionaire" talks about some miracles in life and some hard work to go along with it. So is he successful in this venture of his? Let's find out.

Billions of people, with zillions of dreams. Dreams that say I want to be rich, I want to see my favorite car in the garage of my beach-house, I want to have everything I want. It’s true that money can’t buy happiness, ‘cause it is happiness. But do dreams really turn into reality? Can an ordinary life be deciphered to extra-ordinary?Bank balance of hundreds of millions, colossal apartment, resplendent black car, and retirement in the early twenties; he had everything. But it all appeared void to him. He was incomplete without his first and very last vish. The happiness couldn't buy him his vish. Can love be ever so strong that it can overshadow all the luxuries? Is the love he lost ever coming back? What about the promises he made? When he had nothing, he wanted everything. When he had everything, he felt nothing. He was Dev Arora, a multi-millionaire.

First look at the title and it'll set your mind ringing. It gives a feel of a book based on money and some corporate set up. It's a confusing title probably misleading you in a wrong direction but there's a catch to it once you finish reading the story. The cover image is a simple one which makes a reader's belief stronger that the book is going to talk about money and money only. The blurb too has numbers involved in it namely billions and zillions. But the other aspect of the story is hinted in the blurb too. The blurb has been set quite nicely and it keeps the eyes fixed to the book.

The story revolves around Dev Arora, his ambitions and aspirations, his crazy wild love story with Visha Kapoor the girl who changed his life completely and her sudden disappearance leaves him stranded. He becomes both pauper and millionaire in one single life. A life threatening accident leaves Dev clueless about his love life for sometime and then how he suddenly gathers his wits back and rise from the ashes. It's about success coming through hard work and in some cases the hard work doesn't pays of well and no life guarantees are there as such when it comes to relationships.

The love story and the money making aspect of the book has been juggled and shuffled quite well in the book. The story gets stronger in the second half and the last 50 pages of the book compel the readers to get submerged in the thoughts and life of Dev Arora. The craziness in the love story is a major highlight of the book. The poems have been written beautifully. The end and the entire narration makes it nostalgic too at times. The commitment of Dev towards his love is a thing to watch out for in the book.

The downside of the book is editing. Some spelling mistakes and incomplete sentences cannot be ignored. The professional life takes a lot of time to come in front of the readers. The love story in the first half is no different from the other love stories. It lacks that freshness.

The story is an inspiration for many on how to wait and work hard for love, career and your dreams in life. There's no shortcut to success. Read it for the fiery love and the commitment of a person. His struggle to get out of the heart break. His rise to prominence and still incomplete. It's a story from rag to riches of a person. You need a heart to read and absorb the story. A heart as big as Dev Arora.

RATINGS:

3 OUT OF 5.
